Frequently Asked Questions

What is Mock Trial?
Mock Trial is more or less competitive acting, with the law. Every summer the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) releases a fake case packet, and it will be the framework for the entire year's competition.
For more details, check out our About section.

What is required of an active member?
An active member needs to attend both General Body Meetings as well as any individual team meetings. A lot of preparation for Mock Trial is done outside of meetings, so members should be prepared to devote several hours of their own time.

I've never done Mock Trial--can I still try out?
Definitely! Many of our best witnesses and attorneys started their Mock Trial careers in college.

What makes a good witness?
The best witnesses are animated, engaging speakers, creative, and able to play believable characters; additionally, they remain composed under pressure (which is especially important during cross examinations!).

What makes a good attorney?
Anyone who likes public speaking, analytical thinking within a framework of rules, or articulately altering a pre-prepared outline on their feet would make an unbelievable attorney.
